(More customer reviews)Lotta (nammed after the lottery which helped me afford the pet deposit and the shelter fee so I could adopt her) is very happy with ttis.She does spend more time at the water dish since I bought the fountain and I'm guessing it's because the constantly circulating water tastes better.This is the 2nd fountain I've bought, the first from another company not lasting for more than a few months.I've had this now for a longer time and especially appreciate the cleaning instructions that come with it and were lacking from the previous product.I have noticed that she also has, for an indoor cat, become a more active and content cat, although I don't know how much of a factor the fresher watr supply is.I do suspect that it is a factor in her health.And I'm happier because the maintenance for this one is much simpler. It's well worth the price..

(More customer reviews)The product is everything you hope it would be--easy to maintain, simple, cheap, and quiet...UNLESS you've gotten a lemon, which has happened to me TWICE (I've bought three: one for myself, one for a friend, and one for my mother). By "lemon," I mean the motor makes a steady, loud groaning sound: literally, you can hear the fountain from another room, and no manner of tweaking can fix it. However, the company from which I bought the machine is BEYOND DEDICATED to customer satisfaction: the owner sent me a replacement motor--tested and quiet--the same day. Once a good motor is installed, VOILA.

The quality control for new machines is NOT what it should be, apparently, with two out of three being bad in my case. I hope that record is not representative of all the machines the manufacturer is making: that would be awful. Somebody in quality control please wake up!

(More customer reviews)This is the first time I've bought a fountain for my cat, and I've done quite a bit of research on them. Though there isnt much information about this fountain online compared to the drinkwell and petmate fountains, I went for this one after seeing what the insides of the other fountains looked like. I wanted to write this review in amazon so others can get a bit more information so they can make an informed choice.

The main advantages that this fountain has over others are:
1. It's CERAMIC. No scratches in the plastic leading to bacteria. No allergies to the plastic, which some cats get.
2. QUIET PUMP. The pump is absolutely silent. There are three settings on the pump and the first one gives no sounds whatsoever. I have it set on the second setting to get the sound of trickling water. The pump is still quet.
3. EASY TO CLEAN. This was the main reason I got this one. The Drinkwell and petmate fountains requires disassembly and cleaning with special brushes. This fountain is only THREE PARTS. The top part where the water flows down, the main bowl, and the pump. Since it's ceramic, I basically set it at the hottest water setting to scrub it down and sanitize. No special brushes, no bleeding knuckles.
4. NO LEAKS. Just because of the way this fountain is designed (top ceramic dish sits on top of the main bowl), there is no way it can possibly leak. Unless you crack the ceramic dishes, of course!
5. It's pretty.

The only thing I wonder about the other fountains is whether or not my cat would like the waterfall-type fountains. My cat seems to like to drink out of the part where the water comes out of the pump more than out of the bowl. Nevertheless, he gets fresh water and seems to enjoy it.

So far, I'm satisfied with the fountain, and my cat seems to like it, too. As for the pump, I'll have to see how long it lasts.

(More customer reviews)I disagree with M&M's review about the filters lasting no more than 1 day.That hasn't been my experience at all.Make sure they get loaded with the black side facing the front of the fountain, and the narrower edge goes in first.Also, it's important to rinse the filter with cold water before inserting.This will get rid of any loose carbon dust.The manual explains all this.

According to the manual, 1 filter should last 6-8 weeks, depending on your pump speed and how quickly your animal(s) go through the water.I change mine every 2 months, sometimes longer.Now, I *clean* the whole fountain every 5-6 days, taking apart the whole thing, dumping out the old water, giving it a good scrubbing with soap and hot water.I take the lid off first, clean it, and rest the filter on the lid while I clean the rest of the fountain.Then I put the same filter back in, unless it's due for a change.

$10 for a 3-pack that lasts 6 months is a good deal to me.Don't know how the other user had such problems with grime and slime.It's important to clean the fountain regularly is all I can think of.
