(More customer reviews)Yeah !No more black filter specks to deal with like you get with those Brita filters.Brita is getting worse and the last filter didn't even fit secure enough to filter the water.This Dupont universal version fits my Brita pitcher very well and the water taste is great.We live in an area of city water which smells of chlorine. Filtering is a must and this Dupont filter is excellent.I find it no slower than the black- speck-emitting Brita filter which is now history in this house!!

(More customer reviews)I've been using the Brita faucet mount for 2 years now. Our water is VERY hard, with sulfur smells and rust, and the Brita works as well as our reverse osmosis unit, which has three in-line filters. Plus, it doesn't slow down like the reverse osmosis unit does when using lots of water (family gatherings, etc). It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking you'll get tap-water speed out of such an intense filter. I have to replace the filter approximately every 2-3 months, depending on usage. Very handy when the r/o unit starts running out of water. I tend to use both the r/o and the Brita when filling a pot for boiling, etc just to make it go faster. I've used both the PUR and Brita, Brita works better on our water, although, for best taste, I also run it through a pitcher filter (as I said, our water is BAD). Tastes better than spring water!

(More customer reviews)I installed a sediment prefilter and then this type to clean up the taste and smell of the water.

I bought two of this carbon filter model in addition to a bunch of the sediment filters.

The first carbon filter I installed did an awesome job.The water came out crystal clear with no odor.I stopped using the Brita for drinking water even.

That lasted about 3 weeks and the smell returned and the water got rusty again over a period of a couple days.

So I replaced the prefilter and the carbon filter with new ones.And the water was again clear and odorless.But this time it only lasted about 3 days until the odor returned.

I checked the filter and it doesn't look dirty.The flow is still strong with no noticeable pressure loss.I keep the pressure at 40 PSI.

If they were to continue working like the first one did, I would be happy to pay for these relatively expensive filters.But I think they must be developing channels in the filter and becoming ineffective.There is no other explanation for how the filter can look clean, have no pressure drop, and lose it's filtration properties so quickly.

I'm going to have to try other brands.
