Brita Pitcher - Pink Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I've had this pitcher for about 18 months. Everytime I replace the filter cartridge, I follow the directions about soaking the cartridge to no avail. So many granules come out during the soaking process. But, so many more come out once the cartridge is installed! Who wants black stuff in their water? I gave it a chance, through 5 cartridges. The water didn't taste much different, either. Time to try a different one.

It has a digital meter that tells you when you need a new filter. This pitcher comes with a filter. The set up is easy, make sure you read the instructions which are labeled 1 2 3, that easy. (More customer reviews)This might be piling on, but we have an obligation to the community: this pitcher is junk. The lid will not stay on. Never mind trying to pour with it, just carrying it to the refrigerator without the lid falling off is a challenge. It should go without saying that Brita should be able to filter water. That's what the company does. The water is great. It will save us a bunch of money. It's the right thing to do for the environment. But come on, Brita. You're based in Oakland, CA. Get some of those smart people from Cal or Stanford to work on your design or QA or something. Manufacturing somewhere that you lost track of?

Brita Water Filtration System Kit: 1 Pitcher (Large Capacity) Plus 2 Fliters Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Just bought this package (pitcher+2 filters) and the first thing that struck me is its shape: stylish and elegant. As I began to use it (two adults and two older boys--we go through 1.5 gallons/day), I noticed how efficient and effortless it is: It fills easily, filters water quickly, and pours effortlessly, while keeping track of the filter via a digital progress bar located on the lid housing. Because of its shape, you can fill up even very small-diameter bottle openings quickly and easily.
Note: I've read several reviews on this and other Brita pitchers that snipe about the design of the lid/filter assembly, and that it can fall out....(?) I've tried to make that happen and have been unsuccessful. From my experience, you'dhave to be pouring really aggressively with a full pitcher of water to make that happen, which doesn't make much sense when you consider that you'd be discharging water through the filler lid. If you've pushed the filter in with sufficient force to create a proper seal, then you've seated the lid/filter assembly with enough pressure to keep it from coming loose -- just pour normally!!!!
Now, as far as the economics go: Where I live a case of bottled spring water goes for $4-4.50/case. That breaks down to about $2.00/Gal of water. The Brita will make about 40 gallons of water for each $6.00 filter. Let's see: 40x $2/gal = $80.00 for 40 gallons of the bottled stuff vs. $6.00 for the same amount with the Brita......I'm thinkin' no-brainer here.

Brita 35378 Grand Green Pitcher Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The BRITA GREEN WATER PITCHER is really nice looking and comes with an automatic "change filter" reminder.
I was a little hesitant in buying it after reading some of the reviews here on Amazon, but when Target had a sale I caved in. My old one was probably one of the first ones to come off the assembly line and was so old that the pitcher was fogged up from hard water stains and the lid spout broke off. So it was time for a new one.
Basically this BRITA GREEN is like the older one: you soak the filter in water first, then place it in the holder and then add water to the reservoir. The water filters through and ends up in the pitcher. Clean tasting drinking water right from the tap! One note though: the water has to be SAFE to drink in the first place because the PITCHER will not filter out contamination or organisms that can cause sickness (it's in the fine print).
Anyway, like most reviewers have pointed out the BRITA GREEN PITCHER will leak water from the top if you over fill the reservoir. If the pitcher is full, DO NOT fill the reservoir past the halfway point and then it won't leak. My old one never had this problem; I could top it off with water even when the pitcher was full and it never leaked, so I think that's why most people had this problem and thought it was a defect. I guess it's in the design change, which is so subtle that I can't tell what's different, but it will definitely spill out if you over fill.
The other thing I noticed was it seemed to pour a lot slower than my old one. Water wouldn't pour with much pressure, which I found odd, but I found a fix. If you angle the pitcher just slightly to the opposite side of your pouring hand and then tilt it forward the water comes out fast, like it should, rather than if you just pour with the front-to-back tilt. Since I hold the pitcher with my right hand, I angle it slightly to its left side and it pours like a charm! This is another thing that didn't happen with my old one so clearly there was some design tweaking that changed the function of the pitcher.
And as far as the charcoal or whatever that black stuff is in the filter coming out into the water that will happen if you over fill it. But the instructions recommend to fill the pitcher once and then throw out or save the filtered water for some other use and then re-fill it whenever you start a new filter and don't over fill it. I don't remember doing that with my older one, either, but even if that stuff gets into the pitcher it usually settles at the bottom and you won't be drinking it in. Whenever I change the filter, I slowly pour the remaining filtered water into a large bowl but throw out the water at the bottom and wash the pitcher etc.
The gadget that tells you when to change the filter is easy to set, you just hold down the buttons for a few seconds to reset it. The bars will go down as the weeks go by, and when you have no bars it's time to change the filter. It's located on the lid and once it dies it can't be replaced and the battery can't be changed, but it doesn't interfere with the functioning of the pitcher.
Anyway, I think it's more economical to buy one of these pitchers--even though the filters are expensive--because you'll save money in the long run when you don't have to keep buying bottled water from the store, not to mention carrying those heavy bottles.
