Cuisinart WCH-950 CleanWater 2-Gallon Countertop Water-Filtration System Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these last week at Bed Bath and Beyond. I didn't even know I needed one until I saw it. As with most Cuisinart products, the design of the unit is quite nice. But aesthetics aren't everything.
To begin with, the directions aren't very clear. I attempted to pre-soak the filter as directed, but it didn't seem to do anything. Also, the initial filtering of the water took a lot longer than the instructions stated. I believe they said it would take about 15 minutes for the water to filter through into the dispenser. Mine took almost an hour. Who knows, maybe I didn't soak the filter properly. But that was just the beginning of my problems.
Once the water was filtered, I switched the device on. It was a lot louder than I thought it would be. Actually, I wasn't expecting much noise at all. The device does quiet down a bit, after it has reached its target temperatures for the hot and cold. But after you dispense some water, it kicks back in again. If you have a large kitchen, the sound of the device might not be a problem for you. After all, it's a small price to pay for instantly available hot and cold filtered water. OK, "instantly" might not be the best choice of words.
To dispense water from either side, you have to press in and hold the appropriate button. The water comes out in a steady stream, but a very thin stream. Which means, it takes a long time just to fill up one cup. Even as a single man, this kind of wait was unbearable. I can't imagine someone with a family using this device. In any case, if you do end up purchasing this device, I wish you luck. I ended up returning mine just a few days after I purchased it.

Cuisinart DCC-RWF Replacement Coffeemaker Water Filters, Set of 2 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I live in Seoul, South Korea, where it is inadvisable to drink water directly from the tap. Unless, that is, your idea of a good time is to let a little amoebic dysentery cozy up and get friendly with your colon.
Okay, so, the water isn't ALWAYS that scary to drink. Just, uh, just most of the time.
Even when the water doesn't make you sick, it usually tastes like it's been funneled through an old radiator. Coffeemakers, generally speaking, don't include water filters because the brewing process ostensibly kills all of the harmful bacteria. But you can still taste the heavy-metal-goodness in every last drop of leaden java. Lip smacking!
Anyhoo, I purchased a Cuisinart Coffeemaker recently (oh, how I love that machine), and it came with a package of these little filter fellows, and let me tell you, they do the trick. Gone are the filamental-flavors, the taste of scalded electrical wire! All that's left is pure watery goodness, the clean, crisp clarity of two spic-n-span H's and one well-scrubbed O.Now, if this little wunder-filter can do THAT for the brackish dreck that passes for water in Seoul, imagine how much more effective it would be on YOUR water!
Uh. Assuming you also do not live in Seoul. Or, er, Mexico. And parts of Bangladesh. And most of Haiti. And also, maybe, Djibouti. (Although I think Djibouti's been getting its act together with the public water works system these days, thanks to macro-economic reform programs.See the comments section below.)

Cuisinart WCH-1500 CleanWater 2-Gallon Countertop Water-Filtration System Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this and wasn't sure what to expect. After quite a bit of research I did know this is a smokin deal for a filter which is NSF 42 and 53 certified. (You need that.) I also checked out replacement filter costs and frequency and this unit is very reasonable.
Pros: It filters water very well. I live in LA and the tap water is horrid. Both my Husband and I like the taste.
Filters are cheap and easy to instal. Whole thing is SUPER easy to use.
Cons: The Cold and Hot tanks only fill up one glass each before they have to do their thing to make it hot or cold. I was expecting something like a tankless water heater where the water runs past the hot coils. This has tanks...
It takes what seems like a long time to filter but once you get it going and you continually add water to the top you won't run out.
This is not a con but you should definitely read the instructions on how to treat the filter before installing and using. ;) I didn't do it right so I just had to drain it and start over. Not that big of a deal.
Overall, I love it. Money well spent!!

Keep clean, refreshing drinking water readily available throughout the day with this sleek-looking countertop water-filtration system. The filtration system offers a 1-1/2-gallon capacity: its upper water tank holds about a 1/2 gallon of unfiltered water, the lower tank holds about a 3/4 gallon of filtered water, and the internal cold-water tank holds about a 1/4 gallon. In addition to its removable, upper water tank with a flip-top lid for easy filling, the water dispenser comes equipped with a GF-80 filter, which reduces contaminants such as lead (98.7 percent), chlorine (taste and odor; 97.5 percent), mercury (92.8 percent), benzene (84.1 percent), cadmium (96.6 percent), copper (85 percent), tetrachloroethylene (92.5 percent), and toluene (89.8 percent).
