The pros are:
(1)Seems durable
(2)Fairly simple to install.
(3)Inexpensive, industry standard filters can be used.
(4)Three filter housings gives you the ability to use a variety of filters such as for removing minerals, removing fluoride, removing nitrates, etc.

The cons are:
(1) It comes with a saddle tap which punctures a copper line. This doesn't work on stainless steel or flexible lines. Other brands come with a screw-in Tee fitting. I needed to separately buy the tee (with shutoff) from another company for $8.
(2) Not possible to know if filter is in place inside the housing.
(3)I have run 10 gallons through the system and the filtered water tastes worse than the untreated water. If it doesn't get better I will swap out filters to see which one is the problem.

To install the spigot I had to drill through a porcelain-covered cast iron sink. While the internet is full of horror stories, this was not that difficult. I completed the hole in under 20 minutes using carbide-tipped masonry drill bits.

(More customer reviews)We purchased the everpure complete kits with hot and cold in an appliance store and brought the replacement unit online every other years since it's more convenience for us . We have been using this home unit for almost ten years with no problems. Our household size is small and we purely use it as drinking water and not for cooking. For cooking, it's fine to use tap water since its boiling temperature will do the work. It's very convenience than buying bottle water. The only thing I like Everpure unit to improve is that instead of packing with a battery indicator reminder, it's better to come with something such as paper test strips to simply testing the water condition periodically so I can tell exactly when to replace the filters.

(More customer reviews)I wanted to give the Aqua-Pure a try before spending a fortune on a reverse osmosis system that would also take up all the space under the sink. To my relief, and a bit of a surprise, it actually works. I can compare the unfiltered to the filtered and there is a huge difference. And, it takes up little space.

Water companies have different issues to deal with in various areas of the country. Not far from here, my mother had a terrible iron problem, and I have none to deal with. I would imagine that a simple system like the AP200 might work in some areas and not others. If the water is really terrible, then perhaps only a more complex system would work and maybe not even then.

So, it works perfectly for me, but I do have issues. First, it is really expensive for what it is! This is a simple plastic device, two pieces and a gasket.$92 is a lot for that.

The filter screws into the housing. Since it is plastic, I have always been careful, but once I did find that the filter had broken off at the threads. This required taking everything out and doing something clever to remove the broken-off part from the housing.

Did I screw it in too tightly? Hmmm, I'm pretty careful about such things. I would hate to think it broke from normal water pressure or some sort of surge. I have no water hammer problem. In any case, it isn't very durable and takes too much care to install the filter cartridge.

The better news is that the filters come two in a box. Amazon's description makes it seem like you are only getting one for almost $50. Since they last me at least a year, that is only $25/year, which isn't too bad.

As with any filter, you do have to tap into the plumbing under the sink. That gets you into the world of plumbing and those who have been there know that there is little standardization and lots of options.

Again, as with any filter, you really have to use a separate faucet. Running all your cold water through this filter would shorten its life considerably and at only 2 GPM, the flow would be really slow.

I put my system in when I changed the sink and I bought one that had a hole in it for a separate faucet. Some homes have the faucets coming through the counter, but drilling would still be necessary.

In my area, and my circumstances, the Aqua-Pure turns out to be a fine option. We don't buy bottled water, the coffee and ice cubes are better and we use it to cook in. The regular water goes to the dishwasher and for sink duty.

So, I think it works just fine in most situations, takes up little room and is easier to install that some other systems. It is too expensive and fragile to get the coveted five stars, so it gets three.

(More customer reviews)Last week this item wasn't available through Amazon, so I drove to a Wal*Mart 40 miles away.It was worth the drive.I am thrilled with this product. It does everything and more than the ads say.It will fill one bottle at a time if you want and it has a spout on the side so you could fill a container to make coffee.

But just a little info., shame on this vendor for their price.I paid $37.95 for this at Wal*Mart.I know it's hard, but if you can't find it somewhere for that price...wait.Soon it will be all over the web.

(More customer reviews)I would HIGHLY recommend that nobody install this water filter regardless of price & if you have one already installed, that you replace the spigot assembly ASAP.I had one of these in my house and it lasted about a year before leaking.Luckily we noticed the leak under the sink quickly before major water damage.As other have said here, the design is severly flawed and hazardous. I am an mechanical engineer and am absolutely AMAZED that anybody would design this product as it is.It is beyond incompetence, it is gross negligence.The bottom threaded stem is nylon, which on its own, although problematic, is not a fundemental flaw.It is the way they attached the plastic to the rest of the assembly, using a plastic to plastic bond that is highly stressed when installed.The assembly is made such that the attaching joint is stressed by the main mounting nut and any other forces on the facet head (ie usage, cleaning, accidental bumping when wiping sink or filling pots).Overtightening during installation or bumping the facet will either break, or worse, initiate a flaw in the joint, which over time will surely open up into a major leak at any random time due to the mounting nut stress being concentrated at the flaw and material creep. If this leaks into a hidden under-sink area or while you are away, you may incure massive flood damage to your home.Replace the spigot with a metal one.I used an inexpensive all metal GE one which will surely outlast my kitchen.

(More customer reviews)I have been using these filters for about 7 years, very good quality and do a very good job filtering!!. I live in Venezuela, tap water is not very good quality, but this filter works really good. I'm using a sediment filter as a first stage and then this one for ice making machine and drinking water from refrigerator. Replacement is very easy, you dont need any tools or to shut down any valve, just turn the filter in the right direction, it will shut water line, replace, turn lock and done! You can use level 2 o 3 filters, but you will need to replacement them more often.
