Pondmaster 02910 Ultra Violet Light Pond Water Clarifier 10watt Review

This U V light system works amazingly well. Simple to hook up and use and very effective, cleaned up our pond water even faster than I expected. Our neighbors that have fish ponds are still cleaning their foam/mesh filters at least once a day and their ponds are still green. I'm cleaning my pad filter once every three to four days now and our pond is crystal clear. Very impressive that something this simple would work so well. I would highly recommend this pondmaster UV water filter to anyone.

Product Description:
Is algae making that pond water look a little green? This 10-watt clarifier uses ultraviolet light to kill algae and harmful bacteria for cleaner water and smoother pump operation. The light is submersible so it doesn't detract from the natural pond look, and, at the same time, its slim design tucks behind pond borders for concealed above-surface installation (with proper tubing).
The clarifier is designed to work in conjunction with pumps with up to 700 gallons per hour of output, and clarifies water in ponds holding up to 1,500 gallons. The cleansing, ultraviolet light is equipped with a 3/4-inch barbed intake and outlet for attaching flexible tubing. A vortex flow design increases water exposure time and the unit's slim diameter brings more of the water closer to the intense UV rays for optimal efficiency. An 18-foot power cord easily reaches nearby power sources. Soft, blue indicator lights show that the unit is working. Additionally, water can be pumped through the UV light and then into a biological filter (sold separately) where debris and dead algae can be trapped and decomposed.

Sunterra 200100 Pump Replacement Filter Review

Sunterra 200100 Pump Replacement Filter

the filter works very well. My old filter was so worn out I had to clean it at least once a day and some times oftener. However this new pump has a filter about half the size of the original so I'm not real happy with Sun Terra's new product. Part of my problem was the amount of algea this year.

Pondmaster 02940 40-Watt Ultra Violet Light Pond Water Clarifier Review

Pondmaster 02940 40-Watt Ultra Violet Light Pond Water Clarifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have medium sized decorative pond that gets harsh western sun from about noon until sunset.Ironically, the algae got worse in winter.Visibility in the pond was down to about 1 inch.It was positively disgusting and it stank.

2 week after putting the Pondmaster UV filter into the pond, the water was clear as crystal.

However, as the manufacturer indicates, "filter" isn't the proper terminology. It's a sterilizer. It doesn't eliminate the need for a normal bio filter. This kills the algae and other parasites so the bio filter can remove them from the water. If you have a particularly green pond (as I did) clear the filter pads weekly until you've regained control over the algae.

Again, note that the UV system addresses free algae - not the string algae that grows on the sides. It's basic logic - if the algae is stuck to the side, then it can't pass through the steriliser to be killed.

Change your filter pads regularly until you've gotten past the 2-3 week period when you're waiting for the pea soup to vanish. All that dead algae needs to be removed.Make sure you get any old leaves out too - that will speed things up.

If you don't see results, make sure you have the right wattage, and also adjust the pump to ensure the water isn't moving to fast.Algae cells need about 1-2 full seconds exposure to the lamp to break the cell membrane and kill them.

Bottom line - it does PRECISELY what it says.

Sunterra 337106 Prefilter Box for 500 Gallon Pond Capacity, Black Review

Sunterra 337106 Prefilter Box for 500 Gallon Pond Capacity, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This filter box is a pre-filter that draws water through two foam pads -- a coarse filter, then a fine one -- before it is drawn into the pump.My Sunterra pump includes another filter inside a snap-on housing, so the pond has three filters in all.The box filter is effective but clogs quickly. The top is held on by four screws. To clean the foam pads, you must disassemble it. Awkward. Some kind of snap-on top would be more convenient. Also, my Sunterra pump has a threaded outlet which is designed to be used with a Sunterra diverter valve . . . more than I needed or wanted!(I have a small pond.)A trip to a hardware store yielded a few plastic plumbing coupling that allow me to snap a hose onto the outlet with a quick-release coupler . . . very convenient.
I had drained the pond and refilled it before installing the Sunterra kit.It wasn't possible to drain it entirely because of the fish, however. The filter got clogged quickly even with new, clear water -- well, clearER than it was!Yesterday I drained the pond again, more thoroughly, and decided not to use the box prefilter but just the pump with its built-in filter.I can get it out by snapping off the pump housing. If it doesn't clog for a week or so, I'll try to add the prefilter again. If it does clog, I'll just go with the built-in filter.

Product Description:
A contained body of water is subject to conditions such as dirt, insects, algae and decomposed vegetation that affect the water clarity and health.A filtration system is needed to balance the ponds ecosystem. This filtration system must match both the power of the pump and the volume of the water garden. The Pre Filter Box is for use with 200 and 320 Gallon Per Hour Fountain Pumps to provide mechanical filtration for use in water accent applications. In Mechanical filtration, the water is pumped into the filter creating the necessary pressure to begin the mechanical filtration stage. There are two phases in the mechanical filtration stage, course and fine filtration. Each phase uses a specially designed foam filter to effectively remove all sizes of unwanted debris. The pre-filter cleans ponds up to 500 gallons and is recommended for use with Sunterra pump numbers 120016 and 137016.
